Traveling

Firstly let’s define “travel
“Travel is the movement of people between relatively distant geographical locations, and can involve travel by foot, bicycle, automobile, train, boat, airplane, or other means, with or without luggage, and can be one way or round trip.”

Throughout my life I have traveled a lot; local trips, national and international. Each of these travels has brought a unique experience and taught me valuable lessons.  Though travelling alone isn’t for everyone, I still feel that everyone should try it at least once in their lives.

The thought of a solo trip may seem scary and awaken thoughts like “what if I get lost…?”. In my opinion, getting lost is never a bad thing. You discover a new place and you might meet new people. When lost, always be observant. Familiarize yourself with the area and surrounding and never panic. Not everyone around you needs to know that you are lost. Who knows when you might return to this lost location one day or what treasure you may discover whilst there.

Sometimes the thought of travelling alone, and possibility of getting lost can become overwhelming. However, with proper planning and preparation, you just need to get out there and experience it.

One of the greatest benefits of travelling alone is that you learn to become independent. Be selfish and put yourself first, do not wait around for someone else to make it happen, make it happen for yourself.

A solo trip gives you the opportunity to take control and ownership. When you are lost, YOU will be the one to ask directions, YOU get to decide what activities you want to do. If you're bored, YOU will have to browse and find something fun to do. Therefore, solo travelling is one of the best ways to build your independence.

When travelling alone, starting conversation is slightly easier and you get to meet new people. This is often less likely to happen when you already have company. A solo trip allows you to do what you want on your own time and convenience. You are free to do whatever you want to do. Most times when travelling with someone or in a group, travelling can become stressful because everyone has their own expectations and preferences. When travelling alone you are allowed to be selfish and you do not need to apologize to anyone for it.

Unplug from your normal lifestyle and go find yourself. Take the time to discover. Do some soul searching, think about every aspect of your life.

Spending time alone will allow you to reflect on your life, any challenges you might be facing, and plans you have for the future. Being alone is also an amazing way to heal.

Swallow your pride, conquer your fears, take a chance to explore, for yourself and by yourself – do not be afraid to travel on your own.

"Don't be scared to walk alone. Don't be scared to like it"

"Sometimes, you just need a break. in a beautiful place. to figure everything out"

"As you travel solo, being totally responsible for yourself, it's inevitable that you will discover just how capable you are"
